The Ponto Alegre Estate is located in Cabo Verde, in southern Minas Gerais. The coffee plantations occupy 270 hectares in areas with altitude ranging from 950 to 1100 meters, with an average production of 40 bags per hectare. Their expert team has regular training and support through research and partnerships with universities and local agencies, as well as all the infrastructure for milling, grading, dry milling and storage on the farm.
The Sousa family started to grow coffee at the Fazenda Ponto Alegre over 100 years ago, in the person of Francisco de Sousa Freire and his wife Maria Honória Sousa. Ever since then, the family has striven for excellence in the production of authentic Brazilian mountain-grown coffee. In 1984 the fourth generation assumed control of operations through the siblings Renato, Eduardo and Mabel Lima de Sousa, confronting new challenges in the fields of management and total quality control, while maintaining traditions and regional characteristics, and simultaneously becoming a reference among the best coffees in the world.
